The Thakadu River Camp - in Madikwe Game Reserve - is an authentic luxury Tented Safari Camp shaded and secluded on the banks of the renowned Marico River. It is also a bold partnership between South Africa’s North West Parks, the Molatedi Community and a private sector operator – a concept unique in South Africa in that the community owns the development, with substantial benefits accruing back to the community itself.

Accommodation at Thakadu River Camp

Thakadu River Camp is set under shady riverine canopy and is comprised of 12 spacious and superbly appointed tented suites, each with its own viewing deck overlooking the Marico River. The luxury tented ensuite accommodation is tastefully decorated, authentic and alluring. Sliding doors open onto private decks overlooking the age-old river and Madikwe Game Reserve.
The Thakadu River Camp main lodge enjoys a vast open-plan lounge, dining and reception area - with the pool and bar area offering views of the river to the north. The strong Safari Camp Décor creates an AfroAsian ambience enhanced by the use of natural stone, fine fabrics, cloth and carpets - alluding to an era of colonial African safaris.
