Little Kulala is situated
in the private 2l000-hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve,
the closest reserve to the famous Sossusvlei itself. Deep
in the heart of the Namib, it offers magnificent views of
the famous red dunes to the west and the rugged Namib escarpment
to the north and east. The camp is set amongst camel thorn
trees on the dry Auab riverbed.
Accommodation at
Little Kulala
It has eight thatched and canvas chalets,
known as “kulalas” (meaning “to sleep”), each with an en-suite
bathroom and wrap-around veranda. Mattresses
placed on the flat rooftop create the ideal setting to stargaze
in private or sleep under the blazing Milky Way. The main
area has a stylish lounge, bar and dining room with a view
of the dunes; the veranda overlooks a waterhole.
Attractions and Activities at
Little Kulala
Varied activities aim at acquainting
guests with the splendour, solitude and stark beauty
of the Namib Desert, with game drives and walks on the
private reserve providing awe-inspiring views and sightings
of desert-adapted wildlife and plants. A balloon safari
at extra cost offers a unique experience, soaring silently
above the desert before landing for a champagne breakfast.
