[Engaleni Lodge]

Engeleni Lodge is best suited to family breaks, small corporate hideaways, or ladies weekends away. Providing some of the most spectacular mountain biking, walking, trophy river and dam fly-fishing for young and old, or just enjoy the daily routine of a working dairy farm in the picturesque KwaZulu Natal Midlands. The farm "Prosper" belongs to Graham and Sue Armstrong, your welcoming hosts.

For the more active try:
• A spa treatment at Fordoun Spa, Hotel and Restaurant outside the village of Nottingham Road.
• Do a horse trail to see the bushman and san paintings in the caves of Kamberg.
• Walk the Kamberg Nature Reserve.
• Fly fish neighboring farms and streams.
• Hot-air-balloon the Kamberg valley on a suitable day.
• Or take a drive and soak in the wonder of the Midlands Meander while stocking up on traditional wares and shop-till-you-drop at all of the quaint stores enroute.
• Book a consultation with Dr Elliot Ndlovu, a renowned Zulu Sangoma.
• Eat out and savour the delights of traditional Midland fare and the local brewery.

This and some of the other small and intimate cottages hidden away on various working farms in the area offer an ideal break or sojourn between Johannesburg and Durban. Right under the Giant’s nose in the Berg.

[Mayfly]

Next door to the Engeleni Lodge you may be lucky enough to find The Mayfly Cottage. This is the ultimate honeymoon destination in the Kamberg Valley. Swing from your hammock on the edge of “Nymph Dam” as you watch the sun setting over the majestic Giants Castle and foothills of the uKhalhamba World Heritage Park. Cast a fly over still or rippling waters and watch for a sign of monster trout lurking beneath. Mayfly Cottage is set in a large park like garden adjacent to Engeleni Lodge on the dairy farm "Prosper", belonging to Graham and Sue Armstrong.

Mayfly Cottage is ideal for two, with a luxury en suite bedroom sporting panoramic views of the Nymph Dam, the Kamberg Valley, Giant’s Castle and the Little Mooi River. A cozy living room with a huge log fireplace for chilly winter nights, a well-equipped self-catering kitchen with catering on request, all fully serviced provides for a most romantic setting.
