Take a walk on the wild side - Bateleur Safaris & Walking Trails is a tented bush camp situated in the heart of the renowned Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger National Park. All artificial barriers between the reserves have been removed, allowing the wildlife to roam free. As a result, there are plentiful sightings of lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino, cheetah, a large variety of antelope and 350 possible bird species.

Join a highly qualified and experienced Bateleur ranger on daily trails, tracking game on foot while soaking up the quiet and excitement of the Limpopo Lowveld bush. Revel in fascinating insights into animal behavior, the world of birds, plants, reptiles and insects. Enjoy a private safari, with exclusive use of the camp and its relaxed, informal atmosphere. Bath in the ambient glow of candle light, warm fires, gas and paraffin lantern simplicity, and take advantage of adventures that present themselves at a moment’s notice.

Guides and trainers have been specially selected for their wealth of knowledge, experience in the field, safety awareness, qualifications and excellent people skills ensuring an unforgettable informative safari experience.

Accommodation at Bateleur Safaris and Walking Trails

Bateleur Safaris & Walking Trails camp features 9 large Safari tents set on the shady banks of the sandy Shlaralumi riverbed, under majestic Apple Leaf, Jackalberry and Tamboti trees.  The tents sleep 2 and if necessary, 3 people each.  Each tent is comfortably furnished with beds, linen, towels, blankets, battery-operated reading-lights and a chest of drawers for clothing. The open-air showers and outdoor washbasins allow guests to stare at a million stars, or simply enjoy the vast expanse of pure wilderness, while washing their cares away.

Attractions and Activities at Bateleur Safaris and Walking Trails

Activities include sleeping under the stars, tracking the big five on foot, survival skills, informative game drives and walks, shooting at man made targets, navigation & natural navigation points, and astronomy.

Small group activities are suited to driven corporate groups, veterinarians, mature and adventurous children, groups of friends or family, anyone wanting to experience the bush in a rustic and comfortable setting while being as idle or active as you like. Each visiting group has exclusive use of the camp.

The Bateleur Safaris corporate programme highlights the interrelationship and interdependence of nature, simultaneously creating an association between this and the workplace. Participants are exposed to educational and enjoyable activities that encourage lateral thinking as well as a change of attitude and perceptions – sometimes with life-changing consequences.   These programmes can be drawn up for any length of time and can be tailored to support an existing company theme or goal.

Join us on a wilderness journey and add an unforgettable page to your travel memories or journal!
